Effingham High School's Carsyn Fearday signed her national letter of intent to attend and play basketball at Lake Land College in Mattoon, Ill.
According to Fearday, the closeness of Lake Land played a big role in her decision.
"I'm really close with my family," Fearday said. "They mean a lot to me, so that was big."
Fearday is the second member of the Hearts to sign with Lake Land, as teammate Abby Weis will be joining her in the backcourt for the next four years.
"We always talked about, when we were younger, playing college basketball together," Fearday said. "I never really thought it would happen, but it did. Coach Johnson is an awesome coach and I can't wait to play for him."
Fearday proved she could do it all on both ends of the floor, scoring in every way while being quite the physical defender.
Lake Land head coach David Johnson likes the versatility he's seen from Fearday.
"She's a very explosive offensive player," Johnson said. "She can score going to the rim, she's got a great pull-up jump shot and can make the 3-point shot.
"She's all over the place defensively. She can make a steal, she can defensive rebound and just brings a lot of athleticism to the game. Her effort is outstanding. She's going to make plays that are going to win games for teams."
Fearday put up averages of 17 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game while being named to the All-State First Team.
