Keith Tipsword was my mother’s oldest brother, the firstborn son of Frank and Mabelle Tipsword. He was the many times great grandson of the first settler of Effingham County and a member of the greatest generation.

He lost his life when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. His loss has been remembered and mourned by his family for generations.

I don’t understand your reluctance to honor him with a road sign when it would cost the county nothing and would be a recognition of what was sacrificed on that infamous day.

As I understand it the practice of such recognition is not unheard of in other parts of the state.

I assure you all that such an honor to Keith and his service would be noted and appreciated by his extended family.

In appreciation in advance of your favorable consideration of this request,
