A Rockford woman was found dead Friday in her room at the Days Inn Motel in Effingham, according to the Effingham County Coroner's Office.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes said on Friday, June 7, the Effingham Police Department responded to a call at 11:30 a.m. for a welfare check at the motel, located at 1205 N. Keller Drive.

Upon arrival, police found Felecia Gabbard, 38, deceased in room No. 220. Rhodes said the police department's criminal investigations unit, coroner's office and the Illinois State Police crime scene unit investigated the scene and found numerous over-the-counter medications in the room.

Gabbard was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, where Rhodes said an autopsy was conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday. Toxicology results are pending.

Rhodes said the incident remains under investigation by the Effingham Police Department and the Effingham County Coroner's Office.
