Dieterich will once again be celebrating July Fourth with a celebration at Dieterich Liberty Memorial Park.

This year's festivities will begin on the evening of July 3 with a variety of food vendors and a beer tent, opening at 5:30 p.m. DJ Adam Kuhl Entertainment will kick off the entertainment for the evening from 6 to 7:45 p.m. followed by the band Identity Crisis from 8 to 11 p.m.

July 4 activities will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the Firecracker 5K run/walk. Registration is from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. that day with the 5K run/walk starting at 7:30 a.m. and a one-mile fun run/walk at 7:45 a.m. All proceeds benefit the Dieterich Community Education Foundation. To obtain a registration form, visit dieterichillinois.com or register online at runsignup.com. The beer garden will be open during and after the race.

The parade will be at 11 a.m. This year's grand marshals are Riley Baxter and her family. Baxter went to the Special Olympics USA games in Seattle and received several medals. The parade will feature floats from area businesses, churches and organizations.

"We have games and activities for kids to do, all kinds of food and drink," Village President Brad Hardiek said. "This year we added kids games and touch a truck."

There will be a Civic Center Pork Burger Luncheon for $5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and concessions stands open in the park at 11 a.m. Types of food include pork burgers, brats, lemon shake-ups, loaded nachos, tacos in a bag and more.

Other activities that day include bounce houses, touch a truck, youth pedal tractor pull, Power Wheels Demo Derby, face painting, turtle races, car, truck and tractor show.

Prior to the fireworks, the Little King and Queen contest will be held.

King candidates are Gabe Crutcher, son of Craig and Brenda Crutcher; Kyle Goeckner, son of Neil and Beth Goeckner; Kaden Swingler, son of Brent and Jennifer Swingler; Chase Uthell, son of Larry and Emily Uthell; and Wyatt Will, son of Dustin and Jody Will.

Queen candidates are Briley Bohnhoff, daughter of Eric and Bridget Bohnhoff; Halo Homann, daughter of Josh “Hemi” and Beth Homann; Mya Ohnesorge, daughter of Brian and Andrea Ohnesorge; Norah Wente, daughter of Eric and Kendra Wente; and Peyton Westendorf, daughter of Ted and Kate Westendorf.

Vote for your favorite King and Queen at the Dieterich Bank – Dieterich branch lobby, Dieterich Mart and Old Mac’s. One penny equals one vote. All proceeds raised go toward the purchase of fireworks for 2020.

The final event of the day will be fireworks at 9:15 p.m. The rain date for fireworks is July 6.
