The ExxonMobil Annuitants Club met at the Ponderosa Steakhouse June 27 in Vandalia for the monthly noon luncheon. There were 15 members and six guests in attendance.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Pat Caldwell asked for the meal blessing.
During the meal, Randy Watson of St. Elmo introduced himself. Randy helps with the St. Elmo Library Museum. He had several pictures from the old Carter and Humble Oil Company. He asked for help from the retirees identifying the individuals appearing in the pictures. The members were able to help him with some names.
Secretary and treasurer's reports were read and approved. Birthdays and anniversaries were recognized for the month of June. Betty Feezel was in attendance and was wished a happy 95th birthday that she had earlier in the month.
Dean Black, president, and Carolyn Johnson, vice president, met before the meeting and made an executive decision. Dean then announced that starting in July the club will be giving a $50 gift card to a lucky member at the meeting. The club hopes to be able to do this each month this year.
Dean then read the “Ragged Old Flag” by Johnny Cash.
Since there was no other business, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be July 25 in Litchfield at the Maverick Restaurant at noon.
Guests present were Jane Hammond, Pat Hamilton and Angel, Beth, J.P. and Earle, who are grandchildren of Dallas Fairley.
