SIGEL — Police were investigating an accident outside a bar in Sigel late Sunday night that injured three pedestrians.

Details were sketchy late Sunday as police were still investigating the incident.

The initial report indicated three pedestrians were hit by a vehicle outside of a bar on Main Street around 8:45 p.m. The Last Stand is the only bar on Main Street in Sigel.

According to scanner traffic, an ambulance was responding to the scene from Altamont and sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene just after the initial report. A short time later Illinois State Police District 12 also was called to the scene.

The extent of injuries sustained by the three unidentified pedestrians, their ages or genders were not clear, but radio communications indicated cardio pulmonary resuscitation was being administered to one of the victims at the scene.

At least one of the victims was transported to St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

About 9:05 p.m., the Sigel Fire Department was called to the scene to help with crowd control. Law enforcement also discussed taping off the accident scene.

Details on the type of vehicle that struck the pedestrians, the driver of the vehicle or whether the driver and vehicle were still at the scene were not clear Sunday night.

Illinois State Police confirmed at 11 p.m. it was investigating the accident, but at that time, details were not available as troopers were still on the scene.
