Patience, pitching lead St. Anthony past Ramsey Bulldogs down Rams 11-1 in five

(Continued)

"Gibby's one of them crafty lefties that you hate to see," Koenig said. "He's not going to overpower anybody, but he's put it in the spot he wants to put it in, throw the pitches that he wants and gets the job done. He threw a great game today."

Brady Reiss retired the first two batters of the fifth, but the Bulldogs drew back-to-back walks from Gurtner and Hoelscher, and Rentfrow's bloop single to right ended the game.

Rentfrow went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Hoelscher was 1-for-2 with three RBIs, Dasenbrock was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Gurtner drove in two with a 1-for-2 day.

After winning the North Clay tournament in Louisville over the weekend, downing the Cardinals 2-1 in the process, the Bulldogs are 10-3 and playing their best baseball of the fall.

"We're starting to play some good baseball," Koenig said. "(Bushur) is coming around, starting to DH, starting to hit the ball good.

"Dasenbrock's doing his job, he's the leader of the team. Our top guys are getting on and our bottom guys are working behind them."

St. Anthony returns to NTC play today with a trip to Neoga at 4:30 p.m.

This might sound shockingly similar to a number of columns I've written in the past, but it bears repeating (excusing a terrible pun).
