Shoes sweep five-team meet

TEUTOPOLIS — The Teutopolis boys and girls track teams dominated at their meet on Tuesday, coming up with a number of first-place finishes and ending up in first as a team in both girls and boys.

The Shoes picked up 183 points in the boys meet and 175 in the girls meet, while Altamont took second in both girls and boys.

Riley Drees came up with first-place finishes in the 110-meter high hurdles and 300-meter hurdles with times of 16.47 and 41.38, respectively.

The Shoes placed first in the bots 4x400, 4x100 and 4x200 relays. Altamont took the top spot in the 4x800 relay.

Adam Doty represented Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City with a pair of first-place finishes in the 100-meter and 200-meter races. He finished the 100-meter race with a time of 11.79.

Lucas Probst took home first place in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:12.14 for Teutopolis. Probst also won the 1,600-meter. Brad Vahling won the shot put for the Shoes. Andrew McWhorter won the pole vault. Kyle Blievernicht took a first-place finish in the 400-meter.

Cody Heuerman took home two first-place finishes in the triple jump and long jump. Blake Mette rounded out the Shoes’ jumping with a high jump first place.

Brownstown/St. Elmo finished in last place among the teams, but managed a third-place finish in the 4x100 relay with a time of 54.02.

The Lady Shoes finished first on the girls side, while dominating the relays. They swept the 4x800, 4x100 and 4x400, while Altamont took home a first place in the 4x200. Molly Hill grabbed Brownstown/St. Elmo’s only first place finish on either the boys or girls side on Tuesday. She finished first in the discus, throwing 97-feet.

Teutopolis’ Elena Drees picked up a first place finish in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13:48.25. Megan Weichman took the top spot in the 800-meter and 400-meter. Rachel Westendorf won the pole vault, reaching 10-feet, and the 300-meter hurdles. Michelle Schmidt took home the top spot in the triple jump. Christy Hoene won first place in the shot put and Anna Hartke took the high jump, rounding out the Shoes’ first-place finishers. Altamont placed second as a team, highlighted with first-place finishes from Mackenzie Hoene in the 100-meter hurdles and McKenzie Goldstein in the 100-meter race. Goldstein, who won the 100-meter with a time of 13.38, also won the 200-meter with a time of 27.37.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City’s Alex Blair had a big night with four fourth-place finishes in the 100-meter, 200-meter, long jump and triple jump.
