Hearts JV team ends with perfect record

EFFINGHAM — Perfect offensive balance was the exclamation point to a perfect season for the Effingham junior varisty football team.

Monday night’s 32-0 victory at Mahomet-Seymour included 114 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and through the air, and the Hearts finished the season with an 8-0 record.

Quarterback Kevin Daugherty completed 7 of 14 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns — a 24-yarder to Tyler Myers and a 6-yarder to Matt Wolhtman.

Daugherty and Tritt Rush each rushed for 31 yards and a touchdown.

After a scoreless first period, the Hearts scored three touchdowns and three two-point conversions in the second to lead 24-0 at halftime.

Andy Lustig and Alec Stevenson each had six tackles to lead the Hearts on defense.
