Bulldogs take second against Macomb, Pleasant Plains

MACOMB — St. Anthony traveled to Macomb Country Club Friday for its first of two golf tournaments in Macomb this weekend.

It was a hotly-contested three-team match between Macomb, Pleasant Plains and the Bulldogs, with Macomb taking home first-place with a 168.

St. Anthony grabbed second with a 173, squeaking past Pleasant Plains’ 174 on the day.

Nick Wortman led the Bulldogs on the day, carding a 41 for St. Anthony. Garrett Hixenbaugh shot a 43, Connor Green scored a 44 and Jay Niebrugge rounded out St. Anthony’s card with a 45.

Macomb’s Graham Conrad and Pleasant Plains’ Matt Nika shared medalist honors after each shot a 39.

St. Anthony continues its weekend stint in Macomb this morning, as they begin play in the Gary Saunders Invitational at 8:30 a.m. on the same course.
