"The defense really let us down," Trigg said. "The little things like that have been our problem lately."
The bats woke up from there for six hits in the inning, including an Apke double, an RBI single by Tara Stephens, a double by Chelsey Hardiek, a two-run triple by Went and a double by Kadi Borries to make it 5-0.
Niebrugge complimented Cowman's ability to get a rally going.
"She's a very aggressive baserunner, she's definitely served as a spark plug," he said. "The girls started making good contact."
Effingham responded with two runs in their half of the fourth, scoring on a Nunamaker RBI double and a Kronewitter RBI single.
From there, Anni Borries came in and shut the door on the Effingham offense.
The win improves Teutopolis' record to 15-5, and they host Cumberland today.
Effingham will look to rebound with games one and two of the City Series today at Effingham High School.
