St. Anthony kicked it around a little bit themselves, allowing Windsor to retake the lead in the third. Bayleigh Tabor had a two-run double down the right field line to give Windsor a 5-4 lead. Bell had an infield single where she dove to beat the throw to first, and Kate Richards’ throw to third to get out Tabor sailed, allowing Tabor to score and go up 6-4.
The Bulldogs inched closer in the fourth when Allison Spraul scored on a double steal, and they kept it that way when Meghan Woltman struck out the side after loading the bases with no outs.
They’d take the lead for good in the fifth. Kristen Schuette hit a fly ball to left with two outs, but the elements affected Bailey in left as she dropped it, allowing Makayla Walsh to score and tie the game at 6-6. Schuette scored on the next batter when Richards doubled to right.
Up 7-6, the Bulldogs simply looked to ride out the storm -- or wait for it to end the game. And it did, giving the Bulldogs the win.
The teams combined for X errors, with the Bulldogs notching X and Windsor totaling X. It’s a concern for Tipton, she said.
“We’ve been plagued with these errors off and on,” she said. “We have games where we have no errors, and then there are some games where it’s like ‘What is going on?’
“The weather didn’t help, but there were some balls that should have been caught.”
Hunter Niebrugge was 1-for3 with two RBIs. Kristen Schuette, Richards and Brummer were all 1-for-3 with a double. Walsh scored twice in the game and was 1-for-2. Maddie Schuette was 2-for-2 for the Bulldogs.
Bell went 2-for-4 for the Blue Devils with a triple and an RBI. Floyd went 1-for-4 with an RBI, and Tabor was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Whitney Kuhl went 2-for-3 for Windsor.
