Ada Rozene, an 8-year-old Sacred Heart Elementary student, was among four finalists in her age group in the 2012 Ryder Cup Youth Skills Challenge.
After advancing through local and regional qualifiers, Rozene placed fourth in the finals at Medinah Country Club, the course which hosted the Ryder Cup between the United States and Europe last month.
At the finals, each contestant attempted three putts, three chip shots and three drives, and a formula was used to determine a champion. Rozene placed fourth in her age group in the finals.
Rozene earned her trip to Medinah by winning a local qualifier at Effingham Country Club and a regional qualifier at Oakbrook Country Club near Chicago.
She was one of more than 3,000 junior golfers from across Illinois who participated in the contest, which included 57 local qualifiers and four regional finals.
