Cumberland's Nathan Day was one of four wrestlers left standing with a chance for a Class 1A state title at 120 pounds Friday night.
Day advanced to the state semifinal Friday after defeating Bishop McNamara's Zach Lorek 6-4, and was set to face Byron's Nelson Baker (39-0) for a shot at the state title.
He wasn't able to deal Baker his first loss of the season, as Baker pinned Day in 3:58.
Day's season is still alive, however, as he moves to the semifinal wrestlebacks on Saturday and has two matches left in his season no matter what.
His first opponent will be decided Saturday morning, when Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley's Cmaeron Schwing and Chicago Bowen's Cory Wilson wrestle. Day (40-3) can advance to the third-place match with a win, and will wrestle for fifth if he loses.
