Lady Shoes stay in fourth

Effingham Daily News

EFFINGHAM — The Teutopolis Lady Shoes are the only area team to receive an AP Top 10 ranking after the latest set of polls were released Wednesday.

Teutopolis remained in fourth place in Class 2A after moving to 15-3 last week wins over Flora and St. Joseph-Ogden.

Their counterparts on the boys' side slid out of the poll, after Teutopolis lost twice last week to Mattoon and St. Joseph-Ogden. The Wooden Shoes (10-5) received 10 votes in Class 2A for an unofficial 13th.

Newton also joined them in the 2A poll with one vote, for an unofficial 24th. The Altamont boys received one vote in Class 1A, tied for an unofficial 25th.

Despite moving to 20-0 Tuesday night, the Effingham girls still are unranked, receiving just one vote in Class 3A. That put the Lady Hearts into an unofficial 19th place, tied with two other teams.

Lastly, in Class 1A, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Lady Hornerts received one vote, despite a 2-13 record this season.
