With player Andy Borries coaching and playing left field, Teutopolis Post 924 moved to 3-0 at the Mattoon Firecracker tournament Thursday with a 7-3 win over Olney Post 30 and a 10-0 win over Robinson Post 69.
Borries was 3-for-3 with a double and a run in the win against Olney, Austin Hartke hit a pair of doubles, Brock Mette went 2-for-03 and Kyle Smith had a double of his own.
Teutopolis was tied heading to the bottom of the sixth at 3-3 but rallied for four runs to take the game 7-3, with John Ungrund starting the game on the hill and getting the win.
The second game was aided by a number of Robinson errors, with Post 924 talling 10 runs on eight hits, compared to seven runs on 10 hits in the Olney win.
In game two, Jordan Thoele was 3-for-4 with two doubles, Devin Smith had two doubles of his own and Tyler Westendorf went 2-for-2 as well. Smith started the game on the hill.
Teutopolis sits at 3-0 in the tournament and takes on Louisville at 6:15 p.m. today at Mattoon High School. Louisville beat Macon County in its first game Thursday and had the late game with Vandalia.

Effingham splits at Firecracker
Effingham Post 120 hung around with Macon County 105 for a bit before falling 6-1 in six innings, but rebounded with a 7-3 win over Vandalia Post 95 at the Mattoon Firecracker tournament Thursday.
Zach Gardewine pitched against Macon County, allowing seven hits and no walks, but six runs against (five earned). Effingham had six hits of its own, but could only get one run home on a Clayton Ruckman fielder's choice.
Carter Hayes was 1-for-1 with two walks, Gardewine was 2-for-3 and Swayde Sanders posted a 2-for-3 line with a walk.
After losing two tough ones against Vandalia 4-3 and 7-6 last week, Effingham took a 5-0 lead over Vandalia early en route to a 7-3 win in the day's later game.
Alex Hoeslcher hit a solo home run, Alex Carie, Brenna Poland and Preston Walker each had two hits, while Ruckman doubled and Hayes tripled.
Walker pitched all seven, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks, striking out three.
Post 120 is now 8-7 and 1-1 in the Firecrakcer, and they play Louisville Post 914 at 3 p.m. at Grimes Field, then turn around and play Mattoon Post 88 at 6 p.m. at the same field today.
