Lady Shoes fall two spots in polls

T-Town boys still eighth

EFFINGHAM — The latest AP high school basketball polls were released Tuesday and both Teutopolis teams remained the only top 10 teams in the area.

The Teutopolis (12-3) girls dropped two spots in Class 2A, to No. 4, after a weekend loss to second-ranked Breese Central (19-0) on Saturday. Nashville (16-1) jumped ahead of the Shoes, to the third spot.

Teutopolis' boys team (10-3) stayed at No. 8 in the Class 2A polls. Newton received three votes in the 2A, which was 20 off of 10th ranked Bloomington Central Catholic (11-3).

St. Anthony boys received two votes in Class 1A, 16 off of 10th ranked Mooseheart (8-2).

The Effingham girls team (16-0) received six votes this week in Class 3A, which put them in a tie for 12th with Champaign Centennial. The six votes pitted them one vote shy of 11th ranked Richwoods and 14 short of 10th ranked Burlington Central.
