EFFINGHAM — The Apollo Conference released its All-Conference softball teams this week and a pair of Effingham players landed on the list.

Effingham's Hope Collier earned an All-Apollo first team bid, while teammate Madison Weis earned a spot on the All-Apollo second team.

Collier pitched in 27 games and 155 1-3 innings for the Hearts this season, but didn't earn a spot among three All-Apollo pitchers -- Mt. Zion's Fallon Conner, Morgan Mansur and Mattoon's Cassi Dow. Instead, Collier's offense stats spoke volumes.

Collier hit .385 this season, crushing a school record 11 home runs, which was seven more than any of her teammates. She hit .439 with runners in scoring position. She had a team-high 33 RBIs. She stole seven bases.

As a pitcher, Collier went 13-10 with a 4.40 ERA and 148 strikeouts.

Madison Weis had the Hearts' best batting average at .433 with a team-high 45 hits. She had 11 doubles, two triples and two home runs, driving in 18 RBIs.

Weis hit .435 with runners in scoring position.

Mt. Zion led the conference in nominations, placing eight players on the team. Mattoon came in close second with six nominations. Two Salem players made the teams and Charleston and Paris each had one nomination.
