BEECHER CITY —
The Egyptian Illini Conference released its All-Conference team this weekend, naming Patoka’s Johnnie Clift as its most valuable player.
Three area players made the first team, including Beecher City’s Brady Barnes, St. Elmo/Brownstown’s Levi Maxey and Cowden-Herrick’s Colton Burrus.
Barnes averaged 16.8 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles this season, earning his first-team nod. He missed 12 games this season with a heart problem. Barnes was an Effingham Daily News All-Area second team selection.
Maxey led SE/B with 16.5 points per game, shooting 44 percent from the field. He also averaged 5.7 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.25 assists per game. Maxey scored his 1,000th point this season. Maxey was an Effingham Daily News All-Area third team selection.
Burrus and Ramsey’s Tyler Knisley rounded out of the All-EIC first team, while St. Elmo/Brownstown’s Jacob Behrends highlighted the second team selections.
Behrends averaged 13.6 points per game this season for the Eagles and 3.8 rebounds as St. Elmo and Brownstown co-oped this season. Behrends also scored his 1,000th point this season. Behrends was an Effingham Daily News All-Area honorable mention.
Patoka’s Jared Cain, Christ Our Rock Lutheran’s Caleb Boehne and Mulberry Grove’s Damian Latham and Ty James rounded out the All-EIC second team.
Beecher City’s Austin Rexroad and Cowden-Herrick’s Dylan Barnes earned honorable mentions.
