Blue Devils pick up first win

One day after struggling to find any juice in their bats against Shelbyville, the Blue Devils of Windsor/Stew-Stras had no trouble at the plate against Okaw Valley. Windsor/Stew-Stras used an eight-run third inning to build a double-digit lead through four, and held off the Timberwolves late for a 13-6 win.

The Blue Devils scored one run in the first inning, but the offense really poured it on in the third. Three more runs in the fourth made it an 12-0 ballgame before Okaw Valley (0-1) found some signs of life. The Timberwolves scored 1, 3 and 2 runs in innings 4-6, but it was nowhere near enough.

Alex Allen was one of a handful of Blue Devils with two RBIs. Allen, Gunner Theis, Justin Fulk, Bryce Bugger and Trey Leasher all knocked in a pair of runs. Aaron White picked up the win for Windsor/Stew Stras. White pitched four innings for the Blue Devils, allowing four hits for one run while striking out six opponents.

Windsor/Stew Stras improved to 1-1 on the season with the win, and the Blue Devils return to action today for a doubleheader against visiting Martinsville. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
