Cody Rincker has been named as the new varsity boys basketball coach at St. Anthony High School. Rincker comes to St. Anthony after spending the previous two seasons with St. Elmo schools, where he was an assistant basketball coach at the high school level and also served as the head basketball and baseball coach at St. Elmo Junior High.
"Coach Rincker is an excellent teacher of the game and will provide tremendous leadership to the boys at St. Anthony," Principal Greg Fearday said. "He will instill a great work ethic and is more than capable of continuing the tradition of St. Anthony Basketball."
Rincker is a graduate of Stewardson-Strasburg high school where he was a first-team All-NTC selection. From there, Rincker went on to play at Lincoln Land and then Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville where he received his middle school teaching certificate. Rincker averaged 4.5 points per game for the Cougars during the 2010-11 season.
"I am flattered and humbled to have an opportunity to coach and teach at St. Anthony High School and Grade School," Rincker said. "I would like to wish the best of luck to St. Elmo and wish them the best moving forward, and thank them for all of their support over the last couple years. I am excited about the future and I am looking forward to getting started."
Rincker will teach the fifth grade at St. Anthony Grade School.
He replaces former coach Mark Tovey, after St. Anthony went a different direction in February.
