RAMSEY — St. Elmo High School finally got play in the Class 1A Altamont baseball regional underway, winning a quarterfinal decision at Ramsey by a 17-3 final.
The fifth-seeded Eagles fell behind 3-0 in a game played at Ramsey due to wet conditions at St. Elmo, but St. Elmo surged ahead of the No. 10 Rams with five scores in the bottom of the first and never trailed again.
David Cameron was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs and Trey Wright was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for St. Elmo (9-7), which will play No. 4 Patoka in a Friday semifinal at Altamont.

At Mulberry Grove
Neither Brownstown's nor Beecher City's field was playable due to wet conditions, so both clubs traveled to Mulberry Grove so the sixth-seeded Eagles could pick up a 4-3 win over the seventh-seeded Bombers.
Brownstown led 3-0 after three innings, but Beecher City tied it in the fourth before scoring the go-ahead tally the next inning.
Tyler McKay went the distance for the winners, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out 10 to outduel Wes Kistler.
The senior Olney Central recruit also drove in the game-winning run and logged his 400th career strikeout during the sixth inning while freshman Luke Levitt singled and doubled with two RBIs.
Cole Rhodes had a two-run single for Brownstown, which ends the year at 7-9.
Beecher City is 9-8 and has won five in a row heading into its game with No. 1 Altamont today at 4:30 p.m.

Stewardson-Strasburg, a No. 2 seed, knocked off No. 11 Central A&M at its own regional semifinal by a 5-1 score.
Ben Giertz was the winning pitcher for the Comets (11-9-1) while Kyle Helmuth singled twice with two RBIs. Phil Wetherell also had two hits in dispatching the 2-18 Raiders, who eliminated No. 9 Windsor the day before.
Stew-Stras advances to the regional final, where it will host the winner of today's contest between No. 3 Sullivan and No. 5 Okaw Valley (Bethany) in a 10 a.m. Saturday affair.
