DIETERICH — Dieterich High School picked up a quarterfinal win in the Class 1A Altamont softball regional Monday, hosting 10th-seeded Martinsville and winning 10-9 thanks to a three-run bottom of the seventh inning.
The No. 7 Movin' Maroons (6-16) trailed by as many as six runs Monday, but a three-run fifth cut the Movin' Maroons' deficit to 9-7 after five.
Dieterich had just four hits — RBI singles from Katie Sparks, Laura Thoele and Charmayne Campton along with a base hit from Olivia Kuhl — but did draw eight walks.
Dieterich now faces top-seeded Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick today at Altamont in a regional semifinal set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
