EHS tennis blanks Shelbyville

Effingham High School came off the championship of the Apollo Conference Tennis Tournament Saturday and proceeded to continue its dominance by blanking Shelbyville 9-0 Monday.
Kory Poland, Derek Minor and Brad Gebben held their opponents scoreless, 6-0, 6-0, while Ryan Hoekstra and Paul Kenter were 6-0, 6-1 winners. Logan Ellington won 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles competition, Hoekstra and Kenter won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Ellington and Craig Minor combined to win 6-2, 6-0. D. Minor and Andrews Slavens nabbed a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
"The guys played all out as usual," said EHS Coach Kaye Kimpling.
The Hearts are now 9-1 on the season and back in action Thursday playing Effingham St. Anthony.
