ODIN — South Central High School edged Odin 3-2 in softball competition Tuesday.
Audrey Matheny pitched a one-hitter. Matheny gave up three walks and struck out nine batters.
Ann Githinji went two-for-four with an RBI. Sarah Meyer went one-for-three. Kelsey Uphold scored two runs.
The Cougars improve to 1-1 on the season and return to action Wednesday at Effingham St. Anthony. The game was the season-opener for Odin.
At Windsor
Windsor High School remained unbeaten on the young season by blanking Dieterich 5-0.
The Blue Devils tallied two runs in the second inning and never looked back. Barbara Blackburn had two singles and drove in a run. Tia King had the only extra base hit of the game with a triple.
Alicia Allen pitched a three-hitter with two walks and 10 strikeouts.
"We played well overall and we had timely hits when we needed them," said Windsor Coach Rick Allen.
Windsor is back in action today at Meridian.

At Mattoon
Stewardson-Strasburg opened its season with a 10-0 loss to Mattoon.
The Green Wave stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead then tacked on two in the third and five in the fourth to end the game via the 10-run rule.
Mattoon had five hits in the contest while Stew-Stras had one. Alyssa Cooper had the lone hit for the Comets with a double.
Stew-Stras is back in action Thursday at Newton.
