Effingham, IL — Justice Levi Steele-Coleman, 16, of Effingham, passed away at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, in Shelby County.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Chapel, Effingham. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, also at Hall Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Effingham. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Justice Steele Wrestling Scholarship Fund.
Justice was born July 4, 1993, in Mattoon, the son of Billy Coleman and Lynn Steele Griggs. He was a member of the Effingham Assembly of God Church and was on the wrestling team at Effingham High School, which he loved very much. Since the age of six, Justice had always wanted to join the Marines.
He is survived by his parents; sisters, Shania Patton, Cheyenne Patton, KayeAnn Patton, America Patton, Kiana-Karee Griggs and Jaiden Coleman, all of Effingham; and grandparents, Diana and Russ Nuxoll of Effingham, David and Diane Steele of Beecher City, Lindell Coleman of Watson, and Sandy Krueger and special friend Jeff Graham of Evansville, Ind.; Great-grandmother, Lois Ooton of Effingham; uncles, Darren Steele (fiance, Pam) of Salem and Terry (wife, Brenda) Coleman of Watson; aunts, Stacy Steele of Altamont, Sara (husband, David) Boyer of Sullivan, Angela (husband, Shane) Byers of Mason and Casey Jansen and special friend Evan of St. Louis. Justice also had many cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandfathers, Jack Ooton and Joe Slovick; great-grandmother, Connie Hoelscher; and great-grandparents, Verl and Wanda Steele.
