One injured in Friday accident

EFFINGHAM —     A vehicle crash Friday night sent one passenger to the hospital.

At 11:28 p.m. Friday on Interstate 57 near milepost 162, David C. Wiedman, 36, of Effingham was driving east when he swerved to avoid striking a constructiom message board. He lost control of his gold 2006 Pontiac Bonneville on the icy pavement and slid off the road to the right, striking a light post.

Passenger Elizabeth S. Wiedman, 36, and also of Effingham, was transported to St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital. The driver received a citation for no valid insurance.
