St. Anthony's Memorial to move business operations

The owner of St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Hospital Sisters Health System, is implementing a Central Business Office for hospitals in its Southern Illinois Division that will eliminate the need for 14 employees at the local hospital.

The move involves St. Anthony’s, along with St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.

In a released statement, St. Anthony’s Hospital said the restructuring is needed to “maintain financial viability in a rapidly changing and challenging health care environment.”

The statement goes on to outline that the Central Business Office was chosen on the campus of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville after a review of resources at each location.

Patient Accounts department will be offered the opportunity to continue their positions at the Belleville location.

The transition will take place over the next few months and is expected to be completed in January 2014. One person will stay with the billing department at St. Anthony’s Hospital, according to hospital officials.
