Man recovering from farming accident

DIETERICH — A man injured in a farming accident near Dieterich Wednesday said he is recovering well despite losing a foot as a result of the accident.

Kent Elmore, of Dieterich, was injured Wednesday afternoon when his foot became caught in an auger while farming. He was airlifted to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Elmore said Thursday he is doing well and wanted to thank the first responders at the scene.

"I'm doing fine, doing good." he said. "Hats off to the first responders."

Elmore said a truck driver at the scene applied a tourniquet to his foot, which cut off much of the potential blood loss and helped to reduce any potential complications. He said he had already gone through one surgery and had another one scheduled but added he had lost his right foot.

No date for Elmore's release from the hospital has been set.
