EFFINGHAM — The defense attorney for an Effingham man accused of trying to kill a woman last year said during a Wednesday court appearance that no plea deal had been reached.
But Lou Viverito told Judge Allan Lolie in Effingham County Circuit Court that he would like another pre-trial hearing set for David G. Wyckoff before his scheduled July 7 trial date.
Wyckoff, 22, was originally charged with aggravated domestic battery in connection with an alleged Sept. 1 incident. An Effingham County grand jury later indicted him on additional charges, including attempted murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and aggravated battery.
Lolie set a pre-trial hearing for 11 a.m. July 3.
