EFFINGHAM — A June 2 jury selection date was confirmed in Effingham County Circuit Court Thursday in the case of an Effingham man accused of stabbing his roommate to death nearly one years ago.
Charles D. Yoder, 52, faces first-degree murder charges in connection with the May 2013 death of Ted L. Debany, 52, at the Effingham home the men shared with Yoder's sister. Debany died from a single stab wound to the torso according to authorities.
Judge Kimberly Koester set a final pre-trial hearing for 1:30 p.m. May 27. State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said there could be contested motions argued at that hearing, including a defense motion to exclude Yoder's prior criminal history and a state motion to exclude Debany's behavior preceding his death.
The trial is expected to last several days.
