Car accident Tuesday leaves vehicle in tree

CLAY CITY — A Sailor Spring woman's vehicle ended up in a tree after an accident Tuesday.

Buffie S. Davidson, 47, of Sailor Springs was traveling northbound in a 2005 Chrysler, at 6:19 p.m. Tuesday on the Clay City blacktop when a witness saw her strike a railroad crossing arm before continuing to travel northbound. The witness followed Davidson's vehicle and witnessed her move off the road and spin in a figure eight on the shoulder before returning to the road. The witness then called police with suspicions of a drunk driver.

Davidson continued moving northbound at a high rate of speed with the witness following. Davidson went off the roadway to the right, moving into a ravine and traveling about 100 feet before striking a tree and overturning, end over end and coming to rest on the vehicle's top in the trees. The witness provided first aid at the scene and worked to extricate Davidson from the overturned vehicle.

Davidson was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage and driving under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
