EFFINGHAM — Illinois State Police District 12 is investigating a fiery crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred on Interstate 70 at milepost 55 in Fayette County when an eastbound semitrailer struck another semitrailer that was disabled on the shoulder of the interstate. One semitrailer was fully engulfed in flames when police arrived. All three occupants of the vehicles were taken to Fayette County Hospital for minor injuries.
District 12 Interim Commander Lt. Cory Ristvedt, stated, "the common courtesy of moving over for all stopped or disabled vehicles should be practiced by motorists, in order to prevent crashes with stationary vehicles."
