Fracking hearing rescheduled due to storms

EFFINGHAM —

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has re-scheduled a public hearing on high-volume hydraulic fracturing for Monday, Dec. 16.
 
IDNR cancelled the meeting scheduled for tonight because of a winter storm advisory.
 
The Dec. 16 meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the hotel ballroom at Holiday Inn Effingham, 1301 Avenue of Mid America. Doors will open at 5:30/
 
The Effingham hearing is one of several scheduled throughout the state to gauge public receptiveness to regulations pertaining to the fracturing process, more commonly known as fracking.
 
IDNR is receiving public input on draft administrative rules until Jan. 3. Comments may also be submitted through the IDNR website at www.dnr.illinois.gov, or in writing to One Natural Resources Way, Springfield, IL 62702-1271.
