EFFINGHAM — The Beecher City man accused of operating a methamphetamine lab in a Shumway home pleaded not guilty during a brief Thursday morning appearance in Effingham County Circuit Court.
Cody L. Laue, 20, has been charged with participation in meth manufacturing and aggravated participation in meth manufacturing in connection with an alleged April 7 incident.
Thursday, Public Defender Scott Schmidt waived formal arraignment and entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Laue, who could face up to 30 years in prison on each charge.
Judge Allan Lolie set pre-trial for 11 a.m. June 11 and jury selection for 8:30 a.m. July 7.
Laue remains in jail in lieu of $200,000 bond. Tara Devoe, 18, also of Beecher City, faces similar charges, while Stacey Beccue and Nathaniel Sparks face less serious meth possession charges.
