EFFINGHAM — Proceedings were continued Wednesday for an Effingham woman accused of driving under the influence of drugs at the time of a traffic accident that killed a Watson teenager on her way to school.

Melly R. Hofer, 35, faces charges of aggravated DUI and reckless homicide in connection with the death last Dec. 5 of Brittany Baker, 17. The Hofer and Baker vehicles collided that morning near Central School south of Effingham.

Attorneys for both sides agreed Wednesday to ask for a delay in the case. Judge Allan Lolie re-set pre-trial and a defense motion to quash subpoenas seeking Hofer's medical records for 10:30 a.m. May 14. Jury selection remains set for 8:30 a.m. June 2.
