Altamont bank robbery suspects identified

EFFINGHAM — The two people accused of involvement in the Tuesday afternoon robbery of an Altamont bank have been identified.

Altonio G. Graves, 37, of Florissant, Mo., and Annalise S. McGhee, 36, of St. Louis, were both jailed Tuesday on suspicion of armed robbery and aggravated robbery. The couple was arrested on Interstate 70 in Bond County less than an hour after the alleged robbery at Peoples Bank & Trust in Altamont.

Florissant is located in north St. Louis County directly north of St. Louis city.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said the couple would not appear in court until Thursday morning.

"We have 48 hours to file charges, and we just want to make sure we have all our ducks in a row," Kibler said.

Graves and McGhee were believed to be on their way back to their home area when they were stopped by Illinois state troopers after reaching triple-digit speeds.

Nobody was hurt in the robbery, though nearby Altamont Grade School was locked down until the suspects could be located.
