The Austin Mansion, also known as Garnet Hall, sold Wednesday during an online auction that had no reserve for $330,000, according to the Aumann Auction website.
The vacant mansion has been for sale the past few years. The house originally built for the Austin family in 1892 and served as the Illinois College of Photography from 1900 to 1931, was also featured on HGTV's “If These Walls Could Talk” and “This Old House.”
The mansion has eight bedrooms, eight baths and has been completely renovated in recent years. Much of the renovation work on the Victorian-style structure was done by Craig and Dominique Mueller, who were the most recent owners. Craig is an architect and Dominique is a designer, said Kelly Aumann, auctioning manager for the Aumann Auction of Nokomis. Aumann added that the house has received $1.5 million in interior updates in recent years.
Additional information will be forthcoming.
