TEUTOPOLIS — An accident near Teutopolis Friday sent one driver through the sunroof of the vehicle she was driving.
According to Effingham County Sheriff's Department, Taylor Waldhoff, 17, of Teutopolis was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Utility northbound at 7:58 a.m. on 2100 Street, less than half a mile north of 1400 Avenue, between Dieterich and Teutopolis. Waldhoff drove off the road to the right, traveling into a ditch for more than 300 feet. Waldhoff then corrected, driving perpendicular to the road for an additional 100 feet, before striking the left ditch and overturning multiple times.
Waldhoff was ejected from the vehicle through the sunroof and was found in a field 79 feet from the vehicle. She had sustained multiple injuries and was transported to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital before being airlifted to Carle Hospital. Her condition is not known at this time.
Waldhoff was cited for improper lane usage. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
