TEUTOPOLIS — The Teutopolis Unit 50 Board of Education is expected to consider a contract with the Teutopolis Education Association at a special meeting set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the unit office.
The board is expected to meet in executive session before considering the deal tentatively agreed upon last Thursday. The 11th-hour agreement averted a teacher's strike that had been set for the following morning.
Neither side has released details of the agreement, pending ratification by both sides.
The board had been asking the teachers to accept a two-tier salary schedule, in which incoming teachers would receive smaller annual pay increases than current teachers. The teachers had consistently balked at that proposal and TEA representatives have said the two-tier salary schedule was the single largest issue keeping the two sides apart.
