The theme of this year’s City of Effingham Emergency Management Agency parade is “celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Star-Spangled Banner.” Parade participation is open to everyone. All participants must register by June 17. Registration forms, may be found on the organization’s Facebook page, at the Effingham Fire Department at 505 W. Fayette Ave., or by contacting the City of Effingham Emergency Management Agency at 342-5368. Registration is new this year.
The parade route will also deviate from past years. It will begin at 2nd Street and Jefferson Avenue and follow the Unit 40 Homecoming parade route, ending in the Effingham High School parking lot. The route change is in conjunction with the new location of the Fourth of July fireworks display. Lineup will begin at 3:30 p.m. with a parade kickoff of 5 p.m.
