The Illinois State Police released names of some of the four drivers whose accident backed up traffic for hours on Interstate 70 on Tuesday.

At 1:36 p.m. Tuesday, on Interstate 70 near milepost 102, Donald Wayne Broom, 65, of Summarall, Mississippi, was driving a blue 2010 Volvo truck and slowed down due to the heavy rain.

As he slowed, Broom was rear-ended by Debra Williams, 58, of St. Louis, who was driving a grey 2014 Dodge van.

Williams was then rear-ended by John Grayis, 31, of Swansee, who was driving a blue 2014 Chevrolet van. John Houston, 55, of Frankfort, Ohio, then collided with the rear of Grayis’ vehicle and left the roadway, striking several center median barrels.

Williams and a passenger in her vehicle, Lisa Williams, 42, also of St. Louis, were transported to St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital with injuries.

Traffic was backed up to Montrose because of the accident and routed through Teutopolis until around 4 p.m.
