EFFINGHAM — A male subject was declared dead shortly after discovery in his Lake Sara home.
A friend of the as-yet unnamed victim found the male unresponsive on Monday, Feb. 24, when he came to the home "checking welfare", a press release stated.
Effingham City County Ambulance and Shumway Fire Department were called and responded, and Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey was summoned to the scene shortly after.
Guffey pronounced the subject deceased at 9:55 a.m. Monday.
No foul play is suspected. Preliminary results indicate the subject died of natural causes. Final autopsy results and toxicology test are pending, according to a news release.
The victim's name continues to be withheld pending notification of next of kin.
