Neoga School Board to keep teachers informed as cuts are made

NEOGA — Neoga School Board President Tina Moore said teachers can expect further special meetings of the board to discuss the upcoming staff cuts at the district.

"You'll probably see special meetings happening more frequently so you can see where we're at," she said at the special board meeting Thursday. "When there are things to say, it's going to be very clear that there are things to say. We're not going to try to hide it on the agenda. Those of you that work here will know first."

At the meeting, attended by four people, Moore opened by saying no decisions would be announced about staff cuts and the district is still looking to gather data before decisions are made.

"I will go ahead and say right now that there are no decisions to be announced," she said. "It's just not going to happen today. We're still gathering data and information from across the district to look for our options to best serve students."

Moore said discussions about specific staff members or programs will not be talked about in open session going forward as discussions about staff cuts continue.

"Like last year, we're not going to talk about specifics of staff in open session," she said. "There's just something so very not cool about that."
