EFFINGHAM — Two vehicles slipped on black ice, sending one driver to the hospital early Tuesday.

Ian Keith, 19, of Effingham was driving a white 2003 GMC Envoy northbound at 7:37 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 57 at milepost 169 when he lost control of the vehicle on black ice and slid into the median, overturning before coming to rest on the vehicle's side.

Minutes later, Lukas Niemerg, 19, of Dieterich, driving a silver 2002 Dodge Intrepid, was also moving northbound on Interstate 57 at milepost 169 when he lost control on the same black ice, moving into the median and striking the front bumper of Keith's vehicle.
