VANDALIA — Four people were sent to the hospital following a rollover accident outside Vandalia.
At 4:30 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 70, near milepost 62, Elanor Schmeh, 67, of Edmond, Oklahoma, was driving a silver 2013 Chrysler Town and Country eastbound when she went off the road into the north ditch and struck a guardrail head on.
The vehicle overturned, landing on the driver's side and slid across both lanes of traffic, striking the concrete bridge rail on the other side of the road with the top of the vehicle. The van came to a rest on the right side of the road on the driver's side.
Schmeh was taken to Fayette County Hospital before being airlifted to St. Louis University for treatment. Jonathan Schmeh, 34, and Albert Schmeh, 68, both of Edmond, were also airlifted to St. Louis University. Stephanie Forga, 33, and William Forga, 10 months old, both also of Edmond, were both transported to Fayette County Hospital. Charles Forga, 2, was the only passenger not injured in the crash.
