Teutopolis, Fourth grade, Mrs. Schumacher

TEUTOPOLIS — I think my mom, Jeannie Burrell, should win the Mother of the Year Contest because she is the nicest and the prettiest mom ever. I think she would like the prize because she has had quite a difficult year.

The first reason I’d like for her to win is that she is a hard worker. Even though she’s tired, she makes our supper every night. Also, she works hard at Patterson (herjob) by training new workers. When she is sick, she still works which is hard for her so she’s sometimes grouchy because she’s tired. She’s tired because she has to wake up at 6:30 a.m.

My most important reason is that my mom is caring and helpful even though she has had a rough year. In April of last year, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. It’s hard for her to wake up at 6:30 a.m and go to work. Other things are difficult for my mom. For example, she can barely lift 20 pounds. Her cancer treatments make her weak.

You should pick my mom, Jeannie Burrell, to win the Mother of the Year contest because she is hard working. Also she is helpful and caring and she has cancer. That’s why I think she should win.

I think after people read this essay, everyone will agree with me that my mom deserves to win the Mother of the Year award. My mom, Katie Cates, would be a fantastic Mother of the Year.

First of all, my mom deserves to win because she makes time for me when I need her the most. I can always count on her. She also makes me smile when I’m sad, hurt, or sick. Mom understands me and my sister when no one else can.

The most important reason is my mom loves me with all her heart. She takes care of me and my sister every chance she gets. Mom makes me feel unique in a very good way.

I’m sure that my mom will win Mother of the Year. Katie Cates has so many good qualities that other moms don’t have. I know that all moms have good qualities, but my mom is the best. If she wins she will win Mother of the Year, but as I see it, she has already won Mother of a Lifetime.
