SHUMWAY — Four individuals were arrested in connection to an on going investigation in methamphetamine in Effingham County Monday.
Cody L. Laue, 20, of Beecher City, Tara L. Devoe, 18, of Shumway, Stacey M. Beccue, 38, of Altamont, and Nathaniel S. Sparks, 23, of Beecher City, were all arraigned on felony methamphetamine charges after material was seized from a residence at 3803 E. 2000th Avenue in Shumway.
Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said in a statement that the charges against Laue and Devoe stipulate the two "participated in the manufacture of more than 900 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine. Laue and Devoe were both charged with aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacturing and participation in methamphetamine manufacturing. Both charges are Class X felonies, punishable by between 15 and 60 years in prison. Bail was set at $200,000 for each.
Beccue and Sparks are charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 Felony punishable by 2 to 5 years in prison. Bail for Beccue and Sparks was set at $25,000.
Kibler said Monday's arrests are part of the law enforcement's continued efforts to stop meth production throughout the county.
"The county's investigation of meth production has been ongoing," he said. "This work by law enforcement is far reaching in scope and the work will continue."
