Alleged sex offender, robbers among those indicted

---- — An Effingham man jailed earlier this week on 22 counts of child sex crimes was among a number of people indicted this week by an Effingham County grand jury.

James D. Zumbahlen, 50, faces 11 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X felony; two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony; seven counts of criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony; and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.

The indictment lists nine victims by their initials, one as young as 3 years old. The alleged victims include boys and girls and the indictment alleges the offenses took place between Jan. 1, 1991, and Nov. 1, 2011.

Zumbahlen remains jailed in lieu of $1 million bond. His next court appearance is set for 10 a.m. April 10.

The grand jury also indicted a number of people previously jailed on methamphetamine-related charges in connection with alleged incidents in Altamont and Effingham. They include:

Chad W. Reed, 19, Ramsey, aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacturing, a Class X felony. Reed is accused of participating in the manufacture of less than 15 grams of meth in a multi-unit residential building on March 10. He has been ordered to appear in court at 10 a.m. March 28. He remains in jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.

Alexander R. Beccue, 19, Altamont, possession of methamphetamine-manufacturing materials, a Class 2 felony. Beccue is accused of possessing acetone and lye on March 10 with the intent to use substances to manufacture meth. He has been ordered to appear in court at 11 a.m. March 28. He remains in jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.

Audra L. Daugherty, 20, Altamont, aggravated participation in methamphetamine-manufacturing, a Class X felony. Daugherty is accused of participating in the manufacture of less than 15 grams of meth in a multi-unit residential building on March 10. She has been ordered to appear in court at 11 a.m. March 27. She remains in jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.

Zakery K. Gentry, 23, Effingham, possession of meth precursors, a Class 2 felony. Gentry is accused of possessing less than 15 grams of pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture meth on March 10. His preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m. March 27. He remains in jail in lieu of $65,000 bond.

Joshua A. McElhiney, 20, Herrick, possession of methamphetamine-manufacturing materials, a Class 2 felony. McElhiney is accused of possessing acetone and lye on March 10 with the intent to manufacture meth. His pretrial is set for 10 a.m. April 25. He is free on $1,000 bail.

Zachary A. Massie, 20, Altamont, protection of methamphetamine manufacturing, a Class 2 felony. Massie is accused of serving as a lookout on guard for a meth-related operation on March 10. He has been ordered to appear in court at 10 a.m. March 27. He remains in jail in lieu of $65,000 bond.

Kimberly S. Sinkler, 45, Effingham, possession of methamphetamine precursors, and use of property for manufacturing meth, both Class 2 felonies. Sinkler is accused of possessing less than 15 grams of pseudoephedrine on Feb. 7 and allowing meth to be manufactured on her property between Nov. 12, 2012, and March 6, 2013. Her preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m. March 27. She remains in jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.

Kyle W. Sinkler, 22, Effingham, aggravated participation in meth manufacturing, a Class X felony. Sinkler is accused of participating in the manufacture of less than 15 grams of meth in a multi-unit dwelling on March 6. He has been ordered to appear in court at 11 a.m. March 28. He remains in jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.

Storey M. Woodruff, 23, Effingham, possession of methamphetamine-manufacturing materials, a Class 2 felony. Woodruff is accused of possessing coffee filters on March 8 with the intent they would be used in the manufacture of meth. She has been ordered to appear in court at 10 a.m. March 28. She remains in jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.

The grand jury also indicted the St. Louis-area man and woman accused of robbing Peoples Bank & Trust in Altamont last month. Altonio G. Graves, 37, of Florissant, Mo. and Annalise S. McGhee, 26, of St. Louis, were both indicted on charges of aggravated robbery, a Class 1 felony, in connection with the Feb. 26 heist.

Graves' pretrial is set for 10 a.m. April 16, with jury selection scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. May 6. He remains in jail in lieu of $1 million bond.

McGhee, who police believe stayed outside the bank in the getaway vehicle, is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. March 27. She remains in jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.

The grand jury also indicted:

Samantha L. Eskew, 24, of Montrose, delivery of a controlled substance, a Class 3 felony; and delivery of cannabis, a Class 4 felony. Eskew is accused of delivering psilocyn on Sept. 7, 2012, and between 10 and 30 grams of cannabis on Oct. 24. A warrant has been issued. No bond was listed on court records.

Francesca R. Fischetti, 32, of Olney, possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony. Fischetti is accused of possessing cocaine on Feb. 28. She has been ordered to appear in court at 10 a.m. March 26. She remains in jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.

Kianna N. Johnson, 23, of Carbondale, possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony. Johnson is accused of possessing cocaine on March 10. She has been ordered to appear in court at 10 a.m. March 28. She is free on $1,000 bail.

Aaron S. Postlewait, 30, Wheeler, possession of meth precursors without a prescription, a Class 4 felony. Postlewait is accused of possessing pseudoephedrine without a prescription on Sept. 5, 2012, after a previous conviction for possession of meth precursors. He has been ordered to appear in court at 9 a.m. April 22. He is free on $1,500 bail.

David A. Ervin, 29, Dieterich, possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony. Ervin is accused of possessing cocaine on March 1. A warrant has been issued and bond has been set at $20,000.

Corey B. Heard, 26, Centralia, possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony. Heard is accused of possessing heroin on Feb. 8. He has been ordered to appear in court at 10 a.m. March 27. He is free on $5,000 bail.

Richard W. Davis, 32, Effingham, possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony. Davis is accused of possessing hydrocodone on Feb. 19. He has been ordered to appear in court at 11 a.m. March 28. He posted $1,500 bail, but has since been sent to the Illinois Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.

Martey B. Larimer, 34, Effingham, unlawful failure to register as a sex offender, a Class 3 felony. Larimer is accused of failing to register as a sex offender with Effingham police within three days after changing residence. He has been ordered to appear in court at 11 a.m. March 28. He remains in jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.

Patrick L. McMahon, 31, Effingham, aggravated DUI while license revoked, a Class 4 felony. McMahon is accused of driving a 1999 Mercury on Banker Street in Effingham while under the influence and while his license was revoked for a previous DUI conviction. He has been ordered to appear in court at 10 a.m. March 26.

Makeisha I. Holley, 19, Mattoon, retail theft, a Class 4 felony. Holley has been accused of stealing clothing from Kohl's in Effingham on Jan. 25 after a previous retail theft conviction in a 2011 case. She has been ordered to appear in court at 9 a.m. April 3.

Jennifer M. Fearday, 39, Effingham, identity theft, a Class 4 felony. Fearday is accused of using another woman's Social Security number to obtain cash, goods and other items between Sept. 19 and Nov. 30, 2012. She has been ordered to appear in court at 9 a.m. April 3.

Michael R. Bohrer, 56, Sardis, Ohio, operating a commercial vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and operating a commercial vehicle while in possession of an alcoholic beverage, both Class 4 felonies. Bohrer is accused of operating a 2007 Freightliner under the influence of alcohol and with alcohol in the cab of the vehicle on Feb. 1. He has been ordered to appear in court at 9 a.m. April 3.

James W. Settlemire, 33, Effingham, aggravated fleeing and eluding, a Class 4 felony. Settlemire is accused of refusing to obey police when ordered to stop on Feb. 21. He has been ordered to appear in court at 9 a.m. March 27. He is free on $1,000 bail.

Terrell S. Booths, 28, of Mattoon, aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony. Booths is accused of shoving a merchant into a wall while the merchant was trying to detain him for suspected retail theft on Feb. 7. A warrant has been issued and bond has been set at $5,000.
