UPDATE: Pana man likely died of natural causes

EFFINGHAM — Effingham County Coroner's Office is investigating the death of a Pana man who died after collapsing at a rural Effingham residence.

David M. Alexander, 48, of Pana collapsed late Monday afternoon at the residence of an acquaintance north of Effingham. Alexander was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of death is unknown at this time, but no foul play is suspected. An autopsy Tuesday indicated Alexander died of natural causes. A final determination is pending autopsy results.
